One Hundred Years of Solitude

Today I have finished reading One hundred years of solitude for the fourth time.I never get bored while reading this magnum opus work of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It is a work of genius.Marquez amazed me by this work, every sentence in this book is an art.The book is full of mysteries and laughter, love and sex, romance and passion, massacres and births, people who have same names, flying carpets, Sanskrit, alchemists, wars, women who live to hundred years of age, bastards, failed and flourished businesse. It is my first experience with magical realism.
"One Hundred Years of Solitude" is about the House of Buendia, both literally and figuratively. We follow six generations of the Buendia family, each a faded echo of the previous one, with the house itself as an additional character of sorts: it too changes and evolves and degrades over time. It's a massive, sprawling narrative that goes backwards and forwards in time.I read the english translation,Gregary Rebassa done a brilliant job by this translation.
It's a beautiful, heartbreaking novel, one that blew my mind repeatedly. A must-read.I feel that this novel is one of the best I have read so far. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a life changing novel.
